Keep America Beautfiul's Great American Cleanup is a national campaign involving over two million volunteers in 12,000 communities.  Locally, our 18th year brought us 8,116 volunteers who cleaned litter from public parks, roadways, and neighborhoods.   It is a great way for kids young and old to take pride in their community and participate in Earth Day.   Keep America Beautfiul's Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest community improvement program, built on a foundation of individual responsibility and civic pride.

GET INVOLVED! 4 EASY STEPS:

1. Select a littered area for your school or group to clean or contact us at 1-800-707-2673 for the list of target community clean up days!.  

2. Schedule a day for your cleanup anytime from April 1 - May 31, 2008

3. Complete the registration form below.

4. Materials can be picked up at the new Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste office on Enterprise Blvd. or other arrangements can be made for pickup or delivery.  Schools will have cleanup materials delivered.  All volunteers will receive FREE trash bags and seed packets.  Cleanup supplies for this local program are only available to residents of Geauga and Trumbull Counties in Ohio.

GTSWMD is not liable for any accidents or injuries occurring during cleanups.

 

 

 

LOCAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2007:

8,166 volunteers participated.  This included scouts, school students and residents.

10,000 bags of litter were collected from roadways, parks and neighborhoods.

149 school presentations were conducted to promote this event reaching 3,352 students.

60 playgrounds were cleaned.

100  tons of tires were collected for recycling.

25  city/township target cleanup events were held involving over 500 volunteers.

Over 10,000 flower seed packets and trash bags were distributed to volunteers during this campaign.

Get Your Club to Clean Up!

Are you looking for ways to get your club or service organization involved in the community?  Look no further than your community's recycling drop off bin. As you may know litter is sometimes deposited along with recyclables.  You and your students can help by signing up with other teachers in your district to make sure the bin site is clean.  GTSWMD will provide you will all of the clean up supplies.  Call for more details.  Great idea for Earth Day!
